Perfect Love

Perfect Love

Just recently my husband and I were invited to our friends’ home for dinner. We have been looking forward to this for a very long time. They are former restaurant owners and the dinner was amazing.

I don't know about you, but I love after dinner conversations. The fun, off-the-wall stories lead to laughter and very entertaining subjects, and this conversation proved to not only be entertaining, but an insightful spiritual lesson as well.

Our hosts told us how stray cats would often come to their home looking for shelter and provision in the dead of winter. Those cats must have had pretty good intuition about where to go, because this tenderhearted guy eventually built them a shelter in the barn complete with a heater. He also would call them to the porch for dinner in hopes of forming a friendly bond with them and to win their trust.

One cat stood out to him, which he named Fluffy. Fluffy was a sad looking cat; he had a growth of some kind that had formed such a high mound of hair on its back that it looked like a squirrel had attached itself to the cats back. It apparently was caused from some type of parasite and the other cats totally shunned & rejected him. When my friend called the cats for dinner, Fluffy would run and hide under the steps until my friend left the porch.

This went on for 10 years! Little by little, Fluffy would come closer and closer at feeding time & instead of running under the steps, he began to very slowly approach his provider and even on occasion would allow our friend to touch him.

Then one day our friend noticed the large ugly mound on Fluffy's back was beginning to come loose and a few days later it fell completely off! He said it was a miracle! The other cats now accepted him, and he would allow our friend to hold him and pet him. Fluffy was no longer a fearful, rejected outcast. He accepted the love that was offered to him, and actually became a favorite of our friend.

Listening to this story, I immediately thought of the love of our Heavenly Father. So many people are wandering out in the darkness of this world and trying to exist in the cold conditions of horrible circumstances, that have left them feeling hopeless and in despair. They too have been invaded by disgusting parasites that formed from the wounds of abuse, addiction, depression, and perverted thinking, leaving them infected and disfigured. Then, lost and alone and rejected by others, some are finally drawn to a place of shelter and provision, but because of their condition and fears, they run away and hide instead of quickly coming to the one who will love them back to health and wholeness.

When we were about to leave, Fluffy came to the door and my friend picked him up and cuddled him in his arms. Fluffy began to purr in total contentment and peace. He has finally come to trust the one who loved him.

Your Heavenly Father wants to shelter you and provide for you. His love can bring a miraculous transformation in your life. Old wounds can finally be healed and you can be set free of those ugly growths that have attached themselves to you.

It's so cool to know that we are all God's favorites. He's calling you to come closer and to allow Him to hold and cuddle you. Don't let fear of rejection, shame, or wrong thinking keep you from the love of your Heavenly Father.

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love, for Perfect Love (God’s unconditional love) casts out all fear. Fear has to do with torment, (no peace - no trust) and whoever fears has not been made perfect in love. (They have not come to a full, mature understanding of God’s love).

Even Crummy Kisses Can Be Sweet

Giving frees us from being self-centered to being God centered.

It is a trait of God's kingdom, because it acknowledges His ownership & Lordship in our lives. Malachi 3:6-12 instructs us to test God by giving our tithes and offerings. May you experience God's blessings as you sow into His kingdom.
